Akademia Sztuk Scenicznych (AMU) powstała w Pradze w 1946 roku. W tym samym czasie podzielono ją na trzy niezależne wydziały: muzyczny (HAMU), filmowy (FAMU) i teatralny (DAMU). Na początku na wydziale DAMU można było studiować aktorstwo, reżyserię, scenografię i dramaturgię. Dziś oferuje on szerszy zakres przedmiotów – lalkarstwo, zarządzanie kulturą, teatrologię, pedagogikę i edukację teatralną. Katedra Teatru Alternatywnego i Lalkowego, utworzona w 1990, powstała z inicjatywy Josefa Krofty, który zebrał grupę reżyserów, dramaturgów i specjalistów z zakresu lalkarstwa i teatru alternatywnego. Program zajęć, oparty na wieloletnich doświadczeniach szkół lalkarskich, jest odzwierciedleniem różnorodnych tendencji awangardy teatru, zwłaszcza rozwoju teatru otwartego i alternatywnego. Studenci nie tylko zdobywają umiejętności teatralne, ale także opanowują sztukę wyrażania myśli za pomocą przedmiotów, zwłaszcza lalek. Kładziony jest nacisk na wyobraźnię, niestandardowe podejście do oprawy scenicznej, ekspresyjną stylizację oraz na umiejętność myślenia z perspektywy kreatora dzieła teatralnego. W katedrze prowadzone są studia magisterskie i licencjackie w zakresie aktorstwa, reżyserii, dramaturgii i scenografii.
The Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) in Prague was established in 1946. At the same time, it was divided into three independent faculties: Music (HAMU), Film (FAMU) and Theatre (DAMU). Initially, DAMU offered degrees in acting, direction, scenography and dramaturgy; today it comprises a wider range of subjects – puppetry, art management, theatre studies, pedagogy and theatre education. The Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre, founded in 1990, is the result of a joint effort initiated by Josef Krofta, who formed a group of directors, dramatists and specialists in alternative and puppet theatre. Based on many years of pedagogical experience in puppet-oriented schools, the department curriculum reflects various tendencies of the theatre avant-garde, particularly the movement of open – alternative theatre. The programme is focused not only on the acquisition of theatrical skills, but also on the art of expressing creativity through objects – namely puppets. Emphasis put on imagination, non-traditional approaches to stage settings, expressive stylization, and the ability to think as an author is being part of the department´s objectives. The department offers both BA and MA study programmes in acting, directing, dramaturgy and scenography.

μMikro – teatr miniatur – i jego pierwsze przedstawienie μSputnik.
μMikro to przenośna scenka teatralna dla dwóch aktorów i jednego widza, która została zbudowana przez scenografkę Terezę Černą i aktora Dominika Migača, studentów trzeciego roku Katedry Teatru Alternatywnego i Lalkowego DAMU w Pradze. Widz ogląda spektakl przez dziurkę o wymiarach 4,4 x 7 cm. Autorzy użyli filmowej zasady montażu, dzięki której różne sceny zmieniają się na oczach widza. Pudełko z każdą scenką składa się z pejzażu, lalek i sztucznego światła, którym steruje jeden z aktorów. μSputnik to pierwsze przedstawienie tego teatru. Oryginalna historia Sputnika autorstwa Dominika prowadzi widza przez przestrzeń, w której można obejrzeć przygody rosyjskiego satelity. W spektaklu użyto technologii łączącej papier, mechaniczne automaty i konstrukcję, za pomocą których budowane są trójwymiarowe książki.
μMikro – a miniature theatre – and its first opening show μSputnik.
μMikro is an easy transportable theatre scene for one spectator and two actors, which was built by scenographer Tereza Černá and actor Dominik Migač, third year students of Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU in Prague. A spectator watches the show through a peephole sized 4,4 x 7 cm. The authors used the principle of film cut, thanks to which different scenes alternate behind the peephole. The box with every scene consist of a landscape, puppets and artificial light, which is governed by one of the actors. μSputnik is the first show of this theatre. Dominik’s original story of Sputnik, Russian space module, leads us through the space and presents its adventures. The technologies of paper, mechanical automate and pop-up books has been used.

Do Latarni Morskiej, do str. 73 to przedstawienie studentów roku dyplomowego Katedry Teatru Alternatywnego i Lalkowego DAMU w Pradze. Przedstawienie ma charakter eksperymentalny, przekracza granice klasycznie rozumianego spektaklu, łącząc inne dyscypliny, takie jak performance czy instalacja. Kompozycją spektaklu rządzi rytm. Dramatyczne momenty powstają dzięki interakcji różnych przedmiotów na zasadzie kontrastu. Do Latarni Morskiej nie opowiada historii Virginii Woolf, to raczej pokaz wewnętrznych światów stworzonych przez nią bohaterów. Nie jest ani poetycki, ani brutalny, prezentuje zarówno delikatne jak i agresywne sceny, by dowieść, że świat nie jest biało-czarny. Punktem wyjścia jest 4-zdaniowy opis sytuacji, znaczenie dialogów zmienia się co minutę. Przedmioty znajdujące się na scenie chcą, by nimi grać, prowokują aktorów. Linia między performerem, aktorem czy postacią zaciera się, czasem zupełnie znika, a obnażeni aktorzy sami dostrzegają, że tylko grają przydzielone role.
To the Lighthouse, till page 73 is the performance of students in their final year of master’s studies at the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. The performance is experimental, it falls within the area, where theatre crosses the borders of other disciplines, such as performance or art installation. We use rhythm as main principle. Dramatic moments arise from different interactions with objects basing on the rule of contrast. To the Lighthouse does not tell the story of Virginia Woolf’s novel, it is a picture of the inner mental lives of her masterfully described characters. Neither poetic, nor violent, it uses both delicate and brutal stage actions to show that the world is not black-and-white. 4-sentence long situation slowly unfolds being a starting point of the performance, the meaning of the dialogues changes every minute. Objects on stage want to be played with, they provoke the actors. The line between performer, actor and character is blurry and often grows even thinner until it dissolves completely and then the actors finds themselves playing their roles.
